1/12-14/11

Here are quick, one to two – word responses to the films I’ve watched in the past few days:

  • It Happened One Night – 1934, Frank Capra – TCM OnDemand – Awesome.
  • Mr. Smith Goes To Washington – 1939, Frank Capra – TCM OnDemand – Super Awesome.
  • The Rules of the Game – 1939, Jean Renoir – Criterion DVD – Breathtaking.
  • Women In The Wind – 1939, John Farrow – TCM – Painfully mediocre. (Hey, it was 65 minutes long and there was nothing else on!)
  • Come Live With Me – 1941, Clarence Brown – TCM – Surprisingly good. (Then again, most things with Jimmy Stewart are awesome. Also, I need to see more of Hedy Lemarr who is drop-dead gorgeous in this film.)
  • La Dolce Vita – 1960, Federico Fellini – KochLorber DVD – About as good a film can be without a plot.
  • Last Year at Marienbad – 1961, Alain Resnais – Criterion BluRay – About as good a film can be without making sense.
